The story behind the cartoon
Phonic-1, announced on October 29 alongside a $27.5M Series A, is a speech-to-speech model for agentic tasks that calls tools while the caller is still talking — the answer is ready when they stop.
It is trained on 50-plus languages and can switch languages mid-conversation in the same voice.
The pitch is speed: no waiting for the caller to finish, no handoff to a transcript — the work starts inside the sentence itself.
It finishes your sentence, your booking and your language switch before you have finished asking — the only thing it has not done yet is hang up for you.
