THE SHORT VERSION
Perplexity's new AI coworker never sleeps — and costs $200 a month

Perplexity launched Teammates on November 5: persistent AI agents that take ownership of ongoing work from a high-level goal instead of waiting for prompts one session at a time. They run inside Perplexity Computer, drawing on a user's projects, memory, skills, connectors, files and past sessions, and they keep working when something changes — triaging bugs, running QA loops, monitoring security, analyzing data — and can ask for input in Slack.
The catch is the price and the gate. Teammates are a research preview for individual Max subscribers on the web only, at $200 a month, with usage metered against Max's 10,000 monthly Computer credits. Free and Pro users have to upgrade, enterprise accounts are not included by default, and native mobile and desktop apps are still coming.
Chief executive Aravind Srinivas calls them “persistent coworkers that take over responsibilities and get tasks done end to end,” and says he envisions “hundreds of teammates working for each person” in every organisation. OpenAI's Dots and Anthropic's Claude Duet chase the same always-on idea, but Perplexity's version is the priciest ticket in — and the first aimed at individual subscribers rather than companies.
