THE SHORT VERSION

AI AGENT WIPED A WHOLE TV SEASON — 5 WEEKS BEFORE THE PREMIERE

Swedish broadcaster TV4 has postponed The Challenge Sverige to 2027 after the completed edit of its season was lost ahead of a planned 22 November premiere. The original footage survives, but the finished episodes must be edited again from scratch. Unnamed sources cited by Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet alleged that an AI agent, given access to production company Mastiff's server, deleted the season and left the files unrecoverable.

TV4 disputes that account. The broadcaster initially confirmed a technical breakdown without addressing AI involvement, and its head of programmes, Mia Lindqvist, later rejected the agent explanation outright, saying 'that is not true.' She attributed the loss to human error and said the backup failed when the production needed it. The report notes that whatever caused the loss, the team must now repeat the editing work that turned its footage into a broadcast-ready season.
