THE SHORT VERSION

The world-model land grab is on — AMD bought World Labs, Amazon is circling Decart

Satirical cartoon: a small worried robot types RAIN on a laptop at his desk while a huge storm cloud rains on him indoors, and a mountain world with a lake and a sun assembles itself behind him; a small tabby cat watches dry from the corner.

TechCrunch notes Genie 4 arrives in a world-model field that is consolidating fast: Runway shipped its second playable world model two months ago, Fei-Fei Li's World Labs is being acquired by AMD, Amazon is in talks to buy Decart, and Rivian just bought Third Dimension for self-driving simulation.

Against that backdrop, Genie 4's edge is the combination — photorealism, native audio, free-form live edits, and Gemini acting as director inside the loop, planning steps and checking frames while Genie renders. It can hold a consistent scene for up to two minutes, double Genie 3's limit.
