THE SHORT VERSION

Moonshot apologized and gave every subscriber a week's quota back

Moonshot AI apologized on Monday for rate limiting and unnecessary quota consumption after the Kimi K3.1 Pro launch, Reuters reported. The company said on its Kimi X account that it will reset every subscriber's monthly quota by 25 percent — one week's usage — and reset users below 25 percent to zero.

Moonshot also adjusted parameters to cut unnecessary subagent calls and output length. The company had already struggled with computing capacity after the original K3 launch, and Chinese labs are facing chip shortages under US export controls.
