THE SHORT VERSION

WEIGHTS ARE OPEN ON HUGGING FACE UNDER MIT — WHILE BEIJING REPORTEDLY MULLS BANNING OPEN-WEIGHT RELEASES

DeepSeek has published the weights for DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 on Hugging Face under the MIT License. The model card describes the release as a minor update to DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash that delivers substantial improvements across reasoning, coding, agentic tasks, and visual benchmarks, while reducing task execution time and output length.

In the published benchmark table, the model scores 77.0 on DeepSWE v1.1, up from 74.2 for its predecessor and ahead of Claude Opus 5 at 74.0, alongside gains on Terminal-Bench 4.0, ProgramBench, and Automation-Bench. The card lists a 1M-token context window and recommends maximum output of at least 256K tokens. The release does not include a Jinja-format chat template, but ships a Python reference implementation for prompt encoding and a Rust-based recipe toolkit for production use.
