THE SHORT VERSION
GPT-6.2 spotted on Google Cloud quotas, may ship Friday
OpenAI has announced nothing, and no GPT-6.2 model appears in its model docs or API changelog. But on November 4 two separate reports pointed at a Friday launch: The Information said new Astra, Sol and Cyber-focused models could arrive as soon as November 6, and an X user posted that GPT-6.2 Astra and Sol had appeared on the Google Cloud Console quotas page.
The quota sighting is the concrete trace: the model IDs showed up in Google Cloud quota listings, stayed visible for roughly three hours, and were then retracted, while Codex usage breakdowns have listed a gpt-6.2-astra label since November 1.
The rumor is plausible but unconfirmed. OpenAI shelved the planned GPT-6.1 Astra in late September after it missed the company's safety bar, so a 6.2 family would be the fixed successor — with price, context window and benchmarks all still unpublished.
