ChatGPT now turns prompts and photos into animated GIFs

OpenAI rolled out Images 2.6 on November 4 across ChatGPT and Codex on web, desktop and mobile, free tier included: type a prompt or upload a photo and get back a looping GIF you can speed up or edit frame by frame.

The release also claims images about 50% faster than before, adds two API models — Flare for speed, Sunburst for consistency across edits — and lands as weekly image generation passes 4 billion, up from 3 billion in September.
