160,000 Huawei chips are lined up in Inner Mongolia for V5

The hardware behind the plan is already taking shape: a new data center in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, is being set up with at least 160,000 Ascend 950DT accelerators for training, and pre-training could begin as early as late 2026, according to Crypto Briefing.

The exchange rate is brutal — DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng estimates it takes four Ascend 950 chips to match one Nvidia GB300 — and there is still no publicly confirmed precedent for frontier-scale pre-training on Huawei hardware at all.
