THE SHORT VERSION
Georgia flipped too: its new governor promised to pause data centers

Keisha Lance Bottoms won Georgia's governor race on November 3, becoming the first Black woman ever elected governor of a U.S. state and the first Democrat to win the office since 1998, beating Republican billionaire Rick Jackson despite his more than $200 million of self-funding.
Data centers were on her platform: she called for pausing new data-center development so the state could assess the impact on the environment and on utility bills, alongside Medicaid expansion and a $15 minimum wage.
Georgia completes the sweep this page has been tracking all morning: Texas and Ohio already flipped toward pauses and bans, and now a state at the center of the build-out has a governor-elect who ran on stopping new builds until the state takes stock.
