THE SHORT VERSION

AI stocks slid overnight on the Texas result

Satirical cartoon: a lone elderly voter in an orange vest sits at a folding table at the Riverdale town entrance holding up a paper marked BALLOT, stopping a gigantic data-center complex on wheels from rolling into town.

AI-linked stocks fell in overnight trading after Democrat Gina Hinojosa’s projected Texas governor win sharpened investor fears that state restrictions could delay data-center projects, CNBC reported November 4: Nasdaq-100 futures were down 0.8 percent, more than double the Dow futures decline.

The steepest drops hit companies closest to the buildout: CoreWeave fell 7 percent, Texas-headquartered SpaceX 6 percent, and Nebius and Oracle 4 percent each, with the tech-sector ETF down 2 percent on Robinhood.

The reaction has a Texas-sized reason: Wells Fargo estimates Texas holds 27 percent of planned U.S. data-center gigawatts, and Hinojosa campaigned on an immediate moratorium until lawmakers pass protections — though the election itself enacted no moratorium and changed no project rules.
