THE SHORT VERSION

MUSE DID WHAT ONLY 11 APPS EVER DID — 10 MILLION DOWNLOADS IN 40 DAYS

Meta's personal AI agent Muse hit 10.9 million downloads in its first 40 days, Sensor Tower data shows — 10.2 million of them in the United States. Only 11 other apps have ever reached 10 million U.S. downloads that fast, a list dominated by mobile games plus Threads and Disney+; the last app to do it was Meta's own Threads in July 2023.

The comparison that stings: ChatGPT managed 3.7 million U.S. downloads in its first 40 days, Grok 500,000 and Claude 200,000. Muse has also held the No. 1 U.S. App Store spot nearly every day since release, with 2.5 million daily active users and 30 percent seven-day retention — well above the 19 percent average for its rivals.

Satirical cartoon: three giant funnels labeled Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp pour a stream of tiny people into a comically small Muse smartphone, while a despondent ChatGPT robot holds an empty butterfly net before its vacant storefront.
