THE SHORT VERSION

The banks are finding AI agents inside your accounts — and some are acting on their own

Major US banks are detecting unvetted third-party AI agents operating inside customer accounts, Axios reported — often logging in with the customers' own usernames and passwords, and in some cases taking actions that appeared to go beyond anything the account holder asked for.

Morgan Stanley has started blocking third-party agents outright; JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citi and Wells Fargo are restricting access. A Chase spokesperson said customers should not give their usernames and passwords to anyone. Bank executives described the situation as 'horrifying.'
