THE SHORT VERSION

Apple quietly slipped Claude into Xcode — and never announced it

Apple has an official Xcode plugin for Claude Code, listed in Anthropic's claude-plugins-official marketplace with "Apple Inc." in the author field. One command installs it — /plugin install xcode@claude-plugins-official — and Claude can then build, run and test Xcode schemes, render SwiftUI previews, drive simulators and real devices, and read build logs, all from the agent.

Apple published nothing about it. The listing was merged as pull request 6338 on November 6, and the story spread on X instead, with the post that carried it drawing about 265,500 impressions. As of November 8, MacRumors, 9to5Mac and Mark Gurman had no follow-up.

The plugin itself ships inside the Xcode already on the developer's Mac — installing it runs a local command that points Claude Code at it — so it tracks the installed Xcode version rather than the marketplace. Claude Code could already drive Xcode through manual setup since February; what is new is the one-line install with Apple's name on it.
