THE SHORT VERSION

CrowdStrike built a kill switch for rogue AI agents

At Fal.Con Europe on November 3, CrowdStrike announced an AI Kill Switch inside Falcon Guardian: an authorized administrator can stop an agent acting outside its instructions, block it from relaunching, and cut its network access, with every action logged — though for now the stop happens at the AI Gateway, with endpoint termination still to come.

The same event brought definitive agreements to buy Fiddler AI and Dreadnode for a combined $495 million reported by The Wall Street Journal — about $400 million and $95 million respectively, prices CrowdStrike itself did not disclose. Fiddler becomes Falcon Observe, tracing what agents decide and do; Dreadnode adds automated pre-deployment testing against more than 100 known attack strategies, including prompt injection and jailbreaks.

Both deals are expected to close in CrowdStrike's fiscal fourth quarter, ending in January 2027, when the new Falcon capabilities are slated for general availability — so today customers are buying the kill switch and a roadmap, not a finished agent-containment system.
