THE SHORT VERSION

Apple opened Siri to every app — customers wait months

Satirical cartoon: a small worried robot with a glowing Siri orb on its chest flings open the double doors of an Apple storefront while cheerful app characters — a taxi, a pizza slice, a music note, a calendar and a shopping bag — stampede inside, a broken padlock lying on the ground.

Apple released a developer preview on November 3, with the iOS 27.3 beta, that lets any app plug its own actions and content into Siri AI through the App Intents framework — previously Siri could act inside third-party apps only for tasks in Apple’s predefined categories.

Developers can now build custom actions and write ‘skills’ that chain several actions into a single request, so one spoken ask could find a product, work out who the user means, and send it through Messages; Siri also gains access to Spotlight’s semantic index to find app content.

The catch is timing: the preview works only in developer builds for now, the first customer experiences arrive in a few months, and App Store submissions for these integrations open in spring 2027 — while Siri AI stays unavailable in the EU on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
