THE SHORT VERSION

Oracle raised $20 billion for AI — and its stock fell 9% anyway

Oracle filed Monday to raise $20 billion — $10 billion in new shares and $10 billion in senior notes — to fund its AI and cloud infrastructure buildout, pricing 86.2 million shares at $116, about 11% below Friday's close.

Shares fell 8.8% to $119.22 on the news, leaving the stock down about 39% this year. The raise uses up the entire $20 billion in additional financing Oracle promised investors just last week would last through fiscal 2030.

Oracle already carried $125.34 billion in notes payable and other borrowings at August 31, against $67.36 billion in fiscal 2026 revenue — the price of trying to more than triple revenue by fiscal 2030 on AI data centers.
