OPENAI AND ANTHROPIC ARE RUNNING ELECTION WAR ROOMS AS AMERICA VOTES

OpenAI and Anthropic have set up dedicated war rooms to monitor their platforms for misuse as Americans vote in today's midterm elections, according to exclusive reporting from Politico and Semafor cited by Nextgov/FCW.

The teams are meant to keep voting information reliable and stop misleading AI-generated images from spreading, while Meta activated its own Election Operations Center in the week before the vote and Microsoft said it keeps refining how Copilot answers election questions.

Senator Mark Warner told Nextgov the companies have a responsibility to protect the integrity of the midterms, and Brennan Center testing found ChatGPT now returns a cartoonish image instead of a realistic fake when given a harmful election prompt, while Google's Gemini and Meta AI grew more willing to generate convincing fake election images.
