THE SHORT VERSION

Think 'Hey Neuralink' — and Grok runs the computer for him

Satirical cartoon: a human brain rendered as a wired computer mouse — click buttons and scroll wheel in its crown, spinal cord curling into the cable — plugged into a monitor where an oversized cursor streaks across the screen.

Neuralink engineers spent 72 hours at the home of a participant in its VOICE speech-restoration study, prototyping features beside him and his wife and testing each one on the spot, compressing what the company says would normally take weeks of feedback loops into a single sitting.

The prototypes include neural voice-activity detection so speech decoding starts and stops without a button, a way to trigger a Grok agent by thinking of saying “Hey Neuralink” followed by a task, Bloom phone-call integration that pipes brain-generated speech straight into a call's microphone stream, lock-screen speech, and an iOS keyboard that routes brain-based dictation into any app — including ordering coffee in public by thought-to-speech.

All of it is prototype work on an investigational device that has not been approved by the FDA or other regulators, and the post notes one participant's experience may not reflect other participants or future outcomes.
